CUATRO ISLAS - The Paradise Islands in Leyte

On MArch 28, 2018 where the tourist are welcomed with native foods and entertained by the Hindanganouns(people of hindang) with their presentation of colorfully dressed folk dances. It was, because Himokilan Island is under the political territory of Hindang. Only the other 3 islands (Apid, Mahaba, and Digyo) are under the minicipality of Inopacan. Combined, this four small islands is called CUARTO ISLAS.
Cuarto Islas is a Spanish term in which when translated in English means Four Islas. Cuarto Islas is a group of islands belonging to the municipalities of Hindang and Inopacan in the province of Leyte.

  1. Digyo Island is belongs to Inopacan, Leyte.
  2. Apid Island belongs to Inopacan, Leyte.
  3. Mahaba Island belongs to Inopacan, Leyte.
  4. Himokilan Island belongs to Hindang, Leyte.
  • Digyo Island
The island paradise of Digyo is our first stop. Among the four (4) islands, this to me is somewhat like Boracay but unlike Boracay, the place is not very commercialized. With white sand and crystal clear waters, Digyo island is one of my favorites among the four islands. The island has souvenir shops, cottages, convenience store, etc. This island is quite small but there's more room to explore around. the beachfront is wide and the bathing area extends wide into the sea to wade through. The Apid island is a view away from this island.

  • Apid Island
This island is the farthest and biggest among the 3 island of Cuatro Islas. This island is quite flat and if viewed from above, it is circular in shape. Because a considered size of people are living in the island, Apid had long been considered as one barangay under the municipality of Inopacan, Leyte.

  • Mahaba Island
It has everything you are looking for in a beach destination-fine white sand that fits snugly between your toes, crystalline waters with a colorful and thriving underwater ecosystem, and a rugged beachscape. This is the perfect place to relax, unwind, and forget the stress
 of city of life.

  • Himokilan Island
One of the islands of Cuatro islas off the western coast of Leyte. This island looks like a giant shoe floating in the sea. It is the only island in Cuatro islas that belongs to the municipal territory of Hindang, Leyte. It is quite near to the mainland, in fact is the nearest island among the 3 islands of Cuatro islas. One could cross the sea to reach the island by simply paddling a sakayan(fishing boat(canoe)) on a calm sea. This is a view away from the island of Mahaba Island.

How To Get There?

Exact location: Cuatro Islas, Leyte, Eastern Visayas

If you are outside Leyte, book a flight to Tacloban City and take a ride going to Tacloban North Bus Terminal and look for a van going to Maasin via Baybay. Tell the driver to drop you off at Inopacan.

If you are somewhere in Leyte, look for a van that will go to the Municipality of Inopacan. Upon arriving at the town, go behind the Municipal Hall for the docks with boats headed for the islands. You may ask around the Municipal hall on how to rent a boat.
